By Zee Should you take the CFA exams? Hundreds of thousands of professionals ponder this thought every year. There's a lot of information on the internet on the CFA qualification and why you should...
The 2 reasons I am considering a CFA are
1) An entry into the banking sector
2) More money
1) Based on your article, it looks like a CFA is worth trying and I can hope to get a job in an investment bank . Pl correct me if I am wrong
I have zero finance background, am an IT guy with 12+ yrs of exp and yes looking to switch careers.
2) More money ---> The numbers of 180,000 and the like , after how many years of experience can I hope to make that ?
(2) is very difficult to answer definitively. That's like asking how much you'll earn if you know how to code Ruby (I may not be using all the right tech terms here, but hopefully you get what I mean!).
I would advise to put as much (if not more) effort into networking and interviewing if switching careers is your end goal. We have a few good guides to get you started with:
