Please consider opening a new thread for discussion as your questions warrants it.
In US Market, CPA has overshadowed CFA …
Its like saying dentists have overshadowed heart surgeons., sorry no pun intended …
That is not possible for simple reason that they have very different role to play and both are required by organisations. I terms of volume of jobs it may be true but then as they are two different career all together, I don’t think we can compare them fairly.
This may help you:
http://www.investopedia.com/articles/professionaleducation/08/cfa-cpa-cfp-how-to-choose.aspSo first choose your career before certification / charter. As first one decides which way you travel and later decides how fast you can travel 😉
I may be wrong here, but as you are going to qualify ACCA, CPA makes so much more sense than CFA.
in reply to: What’s for Valentines day? #77518in reply to: Major stress and anxiety – cfa 2 quit ? #77516::CFA is not your immediate concern, it is stress management and overall approach to preparation. You need to work on it first.
Please don’t ignore the elephant in the room. If this problem is having repercussion in other aspects of your life then it must be addressed.
As @shweta suggested, approach stress management therapy.
I will recommend that you go for it independently (not as part of CFA classes), as unless you commit yourself to addressing the problem on its own, it won’t become part of your personality.
And its ok to do so if it helps you to achieve bigger goal. And remember that whatever you learn during this therapy will last with you forever.
in reply to: When should one solve questions from QBank ? #77433::@CFAcharterwannabe – yes that indeed is true.
I need to handle few things head on, like studying formally after so many years and even more the fear of failing. Accept my own pace and prepare myself of all possible of results (this bit is hardest)
I am enjoying studies because finally I am learning something new (i.e. not related to IT… every field gets boring after a decade of working in it … though it pays so well)
So thanks my friend for reminding me that I need to enjoy this experience.
in reply to: When should one solve questions from QBank ? #77415in reply to: CFA Level 1 – mock exam #77378::@mitch895: hey bud if it works for you that’s good. Me I simply can’t do a mock so soon. I have a serious issue with my self-esteem already. If I fail at doing something even moderately well early on, then I get really messed up.
+1, same feeling here.
I just wished I had not read this thread … 🙁
Congrats that you are getting 60% already, just 10% more to go …
Good luck …
in reply to: Error matters #77357::@Dr_Pain28 @CFAcharterwannabe yesterday late night I solved same problem twice, in succession. I had a hearty laugh before closing the book.
Also I noticed that if I take notes during late night, writing gets fainter and fainter – more so because I use fountain pen. Today got myself a dark ink. Lets see how I fare with the new ink.
in reply to: Worried about my pace … #77305::@ Dr_Pain28
everyone here is really great about trying to help out
+1, Yes, everyone is supportive and replies to even smallest of issues/problems, which helps immensely.
@Maroon5 – Yes, I am hoping that this is early enough for remedial actions. Next 2 weeks are really crucial in order to set pace for next 4 months of studies. So Thank you are your comments.in reply to: Worried about my pace … #77297::@Dr_Pain28: I don’t want to give up but did not want to pursue a futile attempt – hence my question.
So thanks for your support.in reply to: I need advice on whether this is right for me… #77236::@matthewjf2 why not for June 2014 ? One good thing about June exam is, you get 12 months for level 2
in reply to: Order of questions in CFA Level I Exam? #77221in reply to: Thanks to all for help on Level 1 #77220in reply to: SCORE RELEASE DAY #77213::Congrats everyone !!!!
You have inspired all of us.
From your comments, the message is even louder for people like me who are from non-finance background that : “this is a BIG challenge and there is no time to rest for next 5 months”
Wish us good luck and stay around.
But for now – have a bash, you deserve it.
