@aliza_khan‌ Thank you so much for the link. It has helped immensely in my study planning, especially when laying out my calendar. By the looks of the doc, it looks like very little has changed between the years. The CFAI even removed a few readings for once 😉
@mattyc Thank you for the confirmation! I just wrapped up my QM section and did just as you proposed. To your point, I definitely feel like I am moving through the material quicker. Also, I have been really focused on going through the CFAI questions which really helps solidify my understanding.
Thanks for the feedback!
Do you guys think I should pull the trigger and purchase the Kaplan Q bank or something similar?

However, speaking from experience, there is value in having a masters in business in this field. I work in advisory and I can certainly note a difference in how quickly I understand our client’s business, comp. landscape, etc.
At always, it comes down to the individual’s career and passion in determining if an MBA or CFA is necessary.
in reply to: Restarting Level 2 – my declaration of war #77815::@zee @fabian‌ @Sophie‌ O wanted to hear your take on something.
I have been traveling on an engagement in Chicago for the past 3 weeks. In short, the all-nighters have really taken a bite out of my studies and the habits I tried to roll over into L2 from L1. I am not making excuses here, I have ~65 hours of study accumulated thus far. I am taking a CFA local chapter course with Kaplan material. The course is proving to be a HUGE help in keeping me on track. I finally caught up to the class, however, at the expense of practice exams. I have tackled the kaplan book questions only and not the CFAI ones yet. Am I screwed or what?
To give you an idea, my class is wrapping up FRA this week, as am I. The course ends with one-month to go for review. If I stay the course and keep up with my class (using it to reinforce material I just read), hit the kaplan notes questions and a Q bank quiz here and there, will I be well versed enough to begin hardcore review in May and pass in your opinion?
Thanks guys!

I am about 50% of the way through the material. Finished with Ethics, QM, ECON, and 50% of FRA (SS7+8). I have been taking my local CFA chapter class to reinforce the material. The hope is to have book 3 finished this week, book 4 by mid october, and 5 by the end of October thereby leaving me with the entire month of November to review. Can’t help but feel a little bit pressed as I am averaging a score of ~67%-72% on my Q-bank quizzes.
I have found that mind mapping per LOS as I read works really well for me. That paired with a 100 or so Q-bank questions and my class really reinforces the material in my head. Wish I had time to go through all of the CFAI material questions :/
Anyways, how I am doing? Any constructive feedback? Any adjustments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Assuming that I pass the level 1 this December, when would I begin to study for the L2? Do i simply wait for my results to come in and then hit the books or should I proactive order my L2 Kaplan Study materials?
Any ideas here guys?
Currently, I’m at 120 hours of study, gaining lots of confidence! 🙂 Will begin my Kaplan Course Aug 22nd and hope to have Ethics, QM, and ECON under my belt by then.
in reply to: Which job would you take? #74068::On that note, if you were my how would you guys approach these recruiters? Good old fashioned networking via linkedin, in person, conferences etc? I have even considered physically going to the offices of these firms to drop off my CV and cover letter. Its a big aggressive but I at least put a face to my name and make a connection beyond an email. What are your thoughts?
BTW- Thank you guys for the feedback- this has been a major help.

Do you guys think MS will be a harder sell for PE recruiters? I do see the value in having operational experience but what if I am applying to PE firm without a telecom vertical. I feel like Management Consulting on my resume is a slam dunk especially when paired with my CFA.
